Terms and Conditions

Draft for solicitor review, not yet approved. Last updated 22 October 2026

1. Whose terms these are

These terms are in two parts. Part A applies to everyone who uses the DB Energy website. Part B applies only if you ask DB Energy to supply, install or maintain a system and you accept a written quotation from us. Part B is a summary of our contract terms. The signed quotation and contract you receive are the binding documents, and where they differ from this page, they prevail.

DB Energy is a trading name of DB Energy Group Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 14313104, registered office 2 Middleton Road, Royton, Oldham, OL2 5PA. We are certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (certificate NIC-601172) and are a member of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC, membership 00075024) and are bound by the Code.

Part A, 2. Using this website

You may use this website for lawful purposes, to find out about our services and to contact us. You must not misuse it, for example by sending spam or malicious code, attempting to gain unauthorised access, or copying content for a competing or commercial use without our written permission.

Part A, 3. Information on this website

We take care to keep the website accurate, but it is general information, not advice or an offer. Savings, generation figures, payback periods and prices shown on this site are illustrations or ranges, labelled as estimates, measured or verified figures. They depend on your property, orientation, shading, energy use, tariff and other things we cannot know until we assess your site.

We will give you an estimate of financial benefit only in writing, based on your own energy use. Case studies describe one installation and one customer's usage; your results will differ.

Part A, 4. Enquiries through the website

Sending an enquiry is a request for information. It does not create a contract, and it does not oblige either of us to go ahead. We use your details as set out in our Privacy Policy.

Part A, 5. Intellectual property

The website, its text, images, logo and design belong to DB Energy Group Ltd or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other rights. You may view and print pages for your own personal use. Any other use needs our written permission.

Part A, 6. Links and third parties

The website may link to other sites, including MCS, RECC and our partners. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or policies. Where cleaning work is delivered through Pristine Panels, that work is described on our site as theirs.

Part A, 7. Our responsibility for this website

We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Subject to that, we are not liable for loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the website, or from reliance on general information on it.

The website is provided as available, and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error free. These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Part A, 8. Changes, law and disputes

We may change these terms and the website at any time. The version on this page when you use the site applies. These website terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK you keep the protection of your local law.

Part B, 9. Quotation and contract process

Before you sign anything we will give you, in writing and in plain language: a description of the proposed system and the work; a total price including VAT where it applies, and what is and is not included; an estimate of the financial benefit and generation, based on your own energy use and the assumptions stated, never a guarantee; the timetable; your cancellation rights; our complaints procedure; and the guarantees and warranties that come with the work.

A quotation is valid for [CONFIRM PERIOD]. A contract is formed only when both of us have signed it [CONFIRM: or you accept it in the way the quotation says].

Part B, 10. Cancellation rights

If you sign away from our premises or at a distance, the law (the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013) gives you a right to cancel within 14 days of the contract being made, without giving a reason. The Consumer Code requires a cancellation period of at least [SOLICITOR: 14 days, verify against the current Code] and we will not start work in that period unless you ask us to in writing. If you ask us to start within the cancellation period and then cancel, you may have to pay for work done up to that point, as the law allows.

In addition, if a technical survey shows that the system, price or performance will differ materially from what we quoted, you may cancel without penalty and receive a full refund of any deposit. [CONFIRM the exact wording and process, including how to cancel and to whom.]

Part B, 11. Deposits and payment

The price and payment schedule are set out in your contract. [CONFIRM: deposit amount or percentage, stage payments and the due date for each.]

Any deposit and advance payments are protected by IWA deposit protection, insured by FCA-authorised insurers and covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, for up to 25% of the contract value from the point of sale, subject to the terms on the certificate. You will receive an IWA Deposit Protection certificate when you pay a deposit. We will not ask for full payment before the work is complete. [CONFIRM: payment methods and late-payment terms.]

Part B, 12. Workmanship guarantee and insurance-backed guarantee

We guarantee our workmanship for at least 2 years from the date of commissioning, and for up to 10 years where your contract says so. The guarantee is backed by an insurance-backed guarantee issued through IWA, so that it remains valid if DB Energy ceases to trade.

The guarantee covers [CONFIRM SCOPE] and does not cover [CONFIRM EXCLUSIONS, for example damage caused by others, misuse, or failure to follow maintenance guidance]. Details and the claim process are in your contract documents.

Part B, 13. Manufacturer warranties

Panels, inverters, batteries and other equipment carry the manufacturer's own warranty, the length and terms of which are in the product documents we give you. We will help you register for them where the manufacturer requires it. Equipment warranty is separate from our workmanship guarantee. As a guide, the panels we install most carry up to a 25-year product and 30-year performance warranty, and inverters and batteries typically carry 5 to 10 years, longer with an extended warranty.

Part B, 14. Your legal rights

Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer, including that goods and services must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose, and that services must be carried out with reasonable care and skill. Commercial customers sign our separate commercial terms and contract, which set out the position on liability. [SOLICITOR: confirm the liability wording.]

Part B, 15. Complaints

If something is wrong, please tell us as soon as you can, by email at [email protected] or on 0800 772 3611. We will acknowledge your complaint within [CONFIRM] working days and aim to resolve it within [CONFIRM] working days. [CONFIRM the internal complaints stages.]

If we cannot resolve it, you may refer it to the Renewable Energy Consumer Code's independent dispute resolution service: [CONFIRM the name of the scheme and the contact route, against the current Code]. You can also contact Citizens Advice for free advice.

Part B, 16. Governing law

Contracts for supply and installation, and any dispute about them, are governed by the law of England and Wales [CONFIRM: or Scotland or Northern Ireland where the property is there], subject to your right as a consumer to bring a claim in your local courts.
